Welcome to my homepage!

This started off as a "look mom, no CSS/JS!" challenge, but I've grown really fond of it.

I believe that newer, modern web design standards are unnecessarily minimalistic. Don't get me wrong - they're efficient, and some manage to look absolutely stunning! Most web pages, however, feel lifeless.

The internet used to be this "wild west" of sorts, a place where you can be yourself and leave a mark on this world by simply posting content online. Nowadays, for most, the internet is comprised of <10 websites, web surfing was replaced with "doomscrolling". The "exploration" factor is gone, and probably will be gone forever.

In one way, it's depressing. In another, this can make pages like mine and many others shine in contrast, allowing for truly remarkable creations to be made.

I compare the old vs. new internet to seeing an elephant.

The old internet is seeing an elephant in its natural habitat.

You have to travel to see what you want, it's a little more work to get it but you discover more things along the way.

You find things you didn't expect, find interesting things you never even thought about.

The new internet is like seeing an elephant at the zoo.

You walk into an enclosure, you walk straight to the elephant, grab some overly priced merchandise at the gift shop on your way out and it's over.
